FROM THE EAST

A new year has begun and at our first stated meeting we were pleased to have MW Douglas Tucker, Grand Master, MW Chuck McQuery and MW Sat Tashiro Past Grand Masters, RW Gale Kenny, Deputy Grand Master, VW Michael Cuadra, Deputy of the Grand Master and other guest present.  It was great to see the lodge so full – it reminds me of how it was in the past.  The evening started with a dinner prepared by our SW Ken which was enjoyed by all.  FELLOWSHIP is the reason we meet and taking time to have great conversation is necessary.  Also at the dinner was an guest that came to find out about Masonry and meet the brothers as well as a brother from Idaho who has relocated to Magnolia and is in the process of looking at lodges in the area.

During the meeting elections were held and I will again be in the East while our young line moves up.  We have a good group of young brothers that bring new ideas and will provide the future of the lodge.

Our Grand Master talked about his theme for the year “Pass It On”.  It is up to each of us to tell those behind us the important messages learned in this life and Masonry – keeping it to your self helps no one after we are gone.  For those who can’t make it to lodge, why not drop us a note telling us what it is that you have garnered from this life and Masonry.  I think it would be a benefit to all and would make a great addition or lodge history.  If enough brothers provide this valuable input we may but all the responses in a publication and send it to all our brothers – How About It, are you up to the challenge?

Plan on joining us for our OPEN Installation of Officers on Wednesday, October 22nd at 7:00 p.m.  Elected officers are:  WM Michael Davis, SW Kenneth Cavallon, JW Gregory Mathers, Secretary/Treasurer Eric Vogt.

Check out our web page queenannemasoniclodge.org for pictures of the newly painted building and other information about your lodge.  Hope to see you in lodge soon.

Fraternally

Michael Davis,

Master

FROM THE WEST

The last meeting of this Masonic year was indeed enjoyable.  The opening on the first degree was a challenge after our "summer vacation", but it was handledsuperbly by the attending brothers.  We were graced with the presence of past Grand Master Sat Tashiro who joined us for dinner.  We also enjoyed the company of WB Sam Roberts and Bro John Novak from Everett Lodge #137.  WB Sam, the Grand Orator, with some help from the Nile Car Club members/associates and Queen Anne Lodge bestowed upon me the homor of Queen Anne Lodge's official "Car Nut and Head Dipstick".  I will treasaure this honor for years to come.

FROM THE SOUTH

Wow!  Wow!  Wow!  I LOVE this Fraternity!  It was really great to see all of the faces at our last stated in September…  it was especially great to see ten brothers from our Lodge in temple and to be outnumbered by 12 others including two past Grand Masters, the Grand Orator, the Deputy Grand Master and the Grand Master himself!  All an unexpected delight!

Unfortunately, we had to make due with a volunteer Brother from another Lodge sitting in as Senior Deacon since we needed seven to open on the First Degree in order to accommodate two of our newest Brethren who should soon be passed the Fellow Craft Degree, for those of you who have not been in Lodge much lately, it sure would be nice to see you there for their degree work!

This past year we have significantly improved our pre-meeting fare to  include well rounded meals.  This last Thursday we had Chicken Cordon Blue, Stuffed Pork Chops, Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms, Creamed Spinach, Mashed Potatoes with Gravy & Fresh Green Salad; Red & White Wine, Beer, Juice and Coffee with some Marion Berry & Apple Pie for desert.

The better fare is a great opportunity to bring good men to introduce them to Freemasonry and let them have an opportunity to meet some of your fellow Queen Anne #242 Brethren; over the last few stated meetings we have had a significant number of guests at dinner including a couple this past stated.  We will continue this tradition throughout this next year so please come to dinner and invite a friend, be he a Brother or not.

I am also humbled and honored to have been elected your next Senior Warden!  I will be moving to the West after installation and I am looking forward to a greater role in the Work and taking a greater part in the Ritual, I see a steady stream of candidates coming in the next twelve months and I âm looking forward to it!

Speaking of the West, when you do come to Lodge you'll see that we have been making very significant progress on sprucing up our Temple Building.  The Western face of the building (the front) has been completely refurbished, old paint removed, cracks sealed and masonry repaired; repainted in light blue with dark blue trim and gold flake accents; these improvements  truly make the building shine in the neighborhood.

We've already heard many thanks from the neighbors who appreciate the aesthetic it brings.  Those of us who worked on the project really believe that this is a significant step toward making the building more profitable as a rental and attracting more Brethren to meetings, you should be proud of the Temple and the Lodge, great things are happening at Queen Anne #242, won't you please come out and be a part of them?

Fraternally,

Bro. Ken Cavallon

Junior Warden

FROM THE DESK OF THE SECRETARY

Brethren, the new MWGM's motto is "Pass it On" -- and, for all you brethren withersoever dispersed around the terrestrial orb who cannot attend your home lodge of Queen Anne for whatever reasons, we hope you find ways to make fraternal connections wherever you are.

It's dues time again, and you should be getting your notice. Please note that Life Members pay only the Grand Lodge Assessment fee of $12. If you feel generous, you can give more! If you are a 50 year member, we decided to exempt you from all fees and assessments. You won't get a dues notice, but you will get your dues card.

The building façade has been repainted -- in three colors: lighter blue for the large surfaces, dark blue for window trim and a few other areas and -- get this: gold metallic paint on other details of the trim. The building really gets attention.

We have a couple of men who are EAs and are working to progress and another petitioner. One each in his twenties, thirties and forties -- truly a multi-generational brotherhood.

We hope to see you in Lodge for the installation on Wednesday, Oct. 22 at 7:00 p.m. -- open to the public.

Finally, brethren, find ways to pass on your masonic wisdom to younger men. They are out there and this fraternity is not an antidote to the cultural decay in our country - it is the answer in my opinion, at least where men are concerned.

Hoping to see you in lodge for our stated meeting on Oct. 9th. Dinner at 6 p.m. Nothing further on my desk.

Eric W. Vogt, PM
Secretary/Treasurer
