FROM THE EAST

What is Going On?

Do you know what your lodge is up to?  Have you communicated with one of your officers lately?  Have you had a chance to visit Queen Anne in the last year or so?

I know there are a lot of members that live outside of the Seattle area and we have many who are unable to attend because of age and health.  Our goal is to try and keep you informed of the activities of your lodge and let you know that we are well and starting to grow our membership.

If you have moved to the electronic age and use the internet and have an email account please be sure we have your email address so we can send you the trestleboard electronically or you can view it at the Queen Anne website.

www.queenannemasoncilodge.org

I will be posting more pictures of the lodge to show our new paint on the front of the building.  It really stands out.  Be sure you take a look at the site and look at the various pages.  The history of Queen Anne is an interesting read – if you know of any additional history please let me know.

Your officers would also like to know if there are any special topics you would like to have discussed at one of our meetings or posted on the web.  Let us know so we can begin to work on it.

Hope to see you in lodge soon – we could use some members on the sidelines for our degrees.

Fraternally,

VW Michael Davis

Master

FROM THE WEST

Brethren, I am honored and humbled to have been selected as your Senior Warden for the coming Masonic Year.  I will endeavor to learn well the Work and perform well all my duties in the West.

It was good to see so many Brothers both at our October Stated Meeting on the 9th AND at the Installation of Officers on the 22nd.  At the Stated Meeting there were at least 25 of our Brethren in Lodge including Brethren from Daylight, St. Johns, Doric and Eureka were well clothed along with many of our own members of Queen Anne #242.  There was much fellowship and brotherly love to behold and it’s a good thing to see our Lodge gaining momentum!

The Western front of the building has been revitalized with a new paint job, light blue base with dark blue trim and golden accents matching our Square & Compasses above the door.  As Brother Secretary mentions, we’ve also spruced up the foyer with a new Oriental Carpet and the floor polisher has been working hard to keep the hardwoods in good shape.  As well, the landscaping has had some attention and the cherry trees have had their first pruning in many, many years… the place is looking good and the Lodge is feeling good, the renters like the improvements and I am certain you will too; won’t you please join us for our next stated and a first degree on November 13th?  We’d be honored if you’d come sit in Lodge with us!

That’s all from the West, Peace & Harmony Prevailing,

Fraternally
Bro. Ken Cavallon
Senior Warden

FROM THE SOUTH

Sounds from the South

I have just returned from another installation at Skykomish Lodge 259.   Yes it is the beginning of that season again.   It is that time of the year when we get a great opportunity to travel and visit many of the brothers that we have not been able to keep up with in the past year.  It is our chance to renew old friendships and forge new ones.

With our recent installation I have assumed the chair of Junior Warden, and I am looking forward to supporting Br, Ken and VW, Mike in the ensuing year.   I am particularly looking forward to our next stated meeting as we will be performing a first degree on our first candidate of the new year.

I invite you to come and bring a brother for we are anticipating a great evening.

I urge one and all to visit our revitalized web site. It is captures what Queen Anne Lodge is all about, and a great way to keep current with our calendar/events.

FROM THE DESK OF THE SECRETARY

Since our last Trestleboard, Queen Anne has held its stated meeting for October as well as its installation of officers for the coming year. The business meeting was exciting, believe it or not – we had two guests from other jurisdictions, one of whom is petitioning our lodge for plural membership! He is a Virginia Mason, but originally from Pakistan; he offered our opening and closing prayer – in Arabic! A first for Queen Anne, to be sure. We also had a petitioner join us for dinner. He was balloted on and will receive the first degree at our November stated!

We have a Persian carpet (ok, its machine made, but it looks real) in our entrance way. This adds an air of solemnity and regalness to our place. Neighbors have noticed our improvements and had many positive things to say.

Here’s a news item for you: Several students from SPU attended our installation – because I am their professor… it’s a long story but one of them is going to submit her thoughts on what she saw as an article for the Masonic Monitor!

In other words, we are growing and sprucing up our building, making it more attractive to potential renters. We are being noticed in the community beyond our Masonic connections.

If you can come to lodge, do! Don’t forget your dues if you haven’t paid already. I’ll be sending your dues cards within the next three weeks.
